Original notes from 2010 release:
Ricardo Gallo Cuarteto, a working group for over 5 years based in Bogotá, delivers its third release: Resistencias, after great acclaim both in their country and abroad of their previous two albums. Resistencias is, as its title suggests, an achievement of resistance expanding the possibilities of creative music in Colombia, and maintaining an all-star group from the scene in Bogotá where each of its members is leader of other exciting, influencing and active projects in the vanguard of Colombian music. The growth of drummer Jorge Sepulveda, percussionist Juan David Castaño, bassist Juan Manuel Toro and pianist Ricardo Gallo is represented in this work in their performance, collective improvisations, solo interventions and compositions from every member of the quartet. This album is the 24th independently issued under the catalogue of La Distritofonica (www.ladistritofonica.com), a collective of creative musicians in Bogotá.
